Alberto Nanclares y Prieto Rias Baixas Albarino 'Tempus Vivendi' 2017

Native to the Basque Country, Alberto Nanclares moved to the seaside village of Castrelo in 1992, creating a small winery out of his garage. Today, Nanclares creates some of the most age-worthy ,organic wines in all of Galicia. ‘Tempus Vivendi’ is whole-cluster pressed and fermented in steel with malo blocked, giving way to a leesy, saline-tinged wine, full of texture, lemon-like acidity, and mineral flavors. A steal!

Albarino

Specialty of Galicia (and Portugal where it’s “Alvarinho”) grown in granitic soils on the Atlantic coast. Its wines are racy mix of stone fruits and sea spray that cry out for salt-baked whole fish.

Galicia, Spain

Cool, green,' northwest Spain, a rocky, undulating tangle of rivers running to the Atlantic and, lately, brimming with gutsy wine: Albariño in Rias Baixas; Mencía in Bierzo; and many quirky others.
