Aurelien Chatagnier Cornas 2016

After years of meticulously working the vines at Domaine Jamet, Aurelien Chatagnier founded his namesake estate in 2002, starting with one hectare of rented vines, gradually purchasing and replanting ten of his own. His Cornas is fermented with native yeasts in barrique, aged one year in a combination of new and used oak. The final wine is aromatic and dark-fruited, with notes of purple flowers, olive, and wet earth.

Wine Type

Among the world’s greatest red-wine grapes reaching its violet-scented peppery zenith in France’s Northern Rhone Valley. Also known as Shiraz in Australia where warmer temps pump up its volume.

Cornas, France

Whereas its northerly neighbors Côte Rôtie and Hermitage are the elegant gentlemen of the Syrah world, Cornas Syrah is a little more animale, its thick fingers smeared with bacon fat.
