Chateau Yvonne Saumur Champigny 'Beaumeray' 2014

Chateau Yvonne was first founded by monks in the 1500s, resuscitated to life by Jean-Francois and Yvonne Lamunière 500 years later. Today, Matthieu Vallée farms the estate’s 11 hectares, all organically and biodynamically, with a hands off-mentality implemented in the cellar. The 2014 ‘Beaumeray’ comes from 5-80 year old vines grown in clay/limestone soils over tuffeau, hand-harvested and aged 12 months in oak; medium-bodied, spicy, and earthy.

Cabernet Franc

In Bordeaux Franc is the eccentric middle child between #1 Son Cabernet Sauvignon and cute baby-of-the-family Merlot. In the Loire (Chinon & Bourgueil) it is proudly itself: savory earthy herbal.
