Laura Lorenzo-DaTerra Ribeira Sacra Blanco 'Erea De Vila' 2015

Enrolling in oenology school at the young age of 16, Laura Lorenzo-DaTerra has become one of the most revolutionary winemakers in all of Galicia. This predominantly Godello bottling comes from a subzone of Ribeira Sacra, with grapes resting on skins for a short period of time. Barrel aging brings texture and complexity to this fuller bodied white, full of yellow stone fruit and notes of herbs. Serve alongside fatty fish, game, and savory chicken dishes.

Spanish white with more depth – if less complex aromas – than Albarino. It is the key white of the Valdeorras DO and an up-and-comer thanks to the sommelier love (rightly) directed at Galicia.

Galicia, Spain

Cool, green,' northwest Spain, a rocky, undulating tangle of rivers running to the Atlantic and, lately, brimming with gutsy wine: Albariño in Rias Baixas; Mencía in Bierzo; and many quirky others.
