Pride 'Reserve Claret' Napa Valley 2004

Formerly known as ‘Summit Ranch,’ Pride Mountain Vineyards comprises 95 hectares across Napa and Sonoma, situated at high altitudes along the crest of the Mayacamas. The 2004 ‘Reserve Claret’ used slightly more Merlot than usual (70%), rounded out with 30% Cabernet. Powerful and flavor-packed, full of sappy black cherry and cassis flavors. Persistent tannins and bright acidity make the wine a perfect with juicy steaks and braised short ribs.

Deliciously zaftig Bordeaux grape that shed its second-banana-to-Cabernet Sauvignon status to become a star in its own right. Early-ripening softly textured yet often very serious (see: POMEROL).

California, United States

The sun in the American wine solar system, but at the same time a wine 'nation' in its own right, California is like the popular kid in high school that was good at everything and good-looking, too.
