Now headed by Mauro Mascarello, Giuseppe’s son, the Mascarello estate continues to produce traditional Baroli wines, crafted with long fermentations and elevage in old botti. Mauro himself is responsible for the single-vineyard ‘Monprivato,’ acquired in 1970. The 2012 is classically tobacco, rose petal, and tar driven, with robust depth that will continue to develop over time.
