Known for powerhouse Nebbiolo, single-vineyard bottlings, and pioneering of the Arneis grape, Vietti has been a staple in Piedmont since the 19th century. ‘Villero’ is a 0.9 hectare vineyard with southwest facing exposure, located in Castiglione Falletto. Vines average 37 years in age, giving concentrated, aromatic fruit. The 2006 vintage is textured and lively, with notes of rose petal, red fruit, and leather. Serve with all things truffle!
This tartly tannic, headily fragrant, beguilingly complex king of Italian red grapes is brimming with bright fruit and earthy funk -- in versions ranging from explosive (Barolo) to ethereal (Valtellina).
