Alberto Nanclares y Prieto Ribeira Sacra 'Minato da Rana' 2015

Silky and aromatic Mencia/Grenache blend from northwestern Spain’s prized appellation, Ribeira Sacra. Produced from from organically farmed fruit grown on granitic soils, influenced by salty Atlantic breezes. 2015 started out rainy and wet, followed by a dry summer; fermentation took place in used French oak, followed by nine months aging on the lees. The final wine is fresh yet rustic, with floral undertones and well-integrated tannins.

Gripping herbal red specialty of Galicia traditionally compared to – but not related to – Cabernet Franc. Its lively acidity and tangy pepper-tinged fruit give it great energy and a capacity to age.

Galicia, Spain

Cool, green,' northwest Spain, a rocky, undulating tangle of rivers running to the Atlantic and, lately, brimming with gutsy wine: Albariño in Rias Baixas; Mencía in Bierzo; and many quirky others.
